A big Aussie G’day from Susan and John at Thrifty After 50 (previously Snap Travel Blog).
We provide tips on low cost travel for over 50’s so you can travel more for less!
Do more in your 50’s than in your 60’s
We came to the realisation a few years ago that there is only a certain amount of time left in your life and no amount of money is going to extend that. Our motto in life has now become “Do more in your 50’s than your 60’s”.
We didn’t want to reach the retirement age of 65 and regret that we had been busy working to compile savings rather than getting out there and enjoying life.
In mid 2019, we both took the big step of stopping work so that we could bring our dreams to reality.
Healthy, low cost Activities
As non-working empty-nesters in our 50’s the world is now our oyster, however you won’t find us lying around sunbathing beside the pool.
We’re more likely to be exploring museums and historical sites or hiking through a rainforest. Together we enjoy healthy active holidays and treasure our newfound freedom.
We both enjoy low cost activities such as hiking and cycling. John’s favourite hobbies are running, orienteering and playing golf. Susan’s passion is photography and is keen to keep improving her skills.
Travel more for less!
We have taken on the big challenge of finding ways to reduce the amount of money we spend while traveling so that we can increase the amount of time we are able to travel.
House and pet sitting is just one of these activities.
House and pet sitting allows us to keep our accommodation and other costs to a minimum so that we can travel overseas for longer periods of time.
Why write a travel blog?
Susan has always enjoyed documenting the family travels; scrapbooking, designing photo books or even writing reviews for Trip Advisor.
As a qualified librarian Susan also enjoys putting her research skills to use when planning holiday itineraries. She finds that researching the destinations and planning the holiday is almost as enjoyable as the holiday itself.
John, the engineer and financial guru, is instrumental in budgeting to ensure holiday plans come to fruition.
Blogging is the perfect outlet for our skills and allows us to provide you with tips on how to save money so you can spend more time traveling.
Just one of the many tips you can learn from Thrifty After 50 is how you can travel more for less!
Our goal is to reduce the amount of money we spend on traveling so that we can increase the amount of time we are able to travel.
